CHARITY STALLS 2022
Charity Stalls date - Thursday 24th November 2022.

CHARITY STALLS 2021
At the 2021 switching on of Long Eaton's Christmas lights (Thursday 25th November 2021), the Long Eaton Chamber of Trade once again organised the Christmas charity stalls on Long Eaton market place.

There were two locations for the charity stalls this year: on the High Street (right next to the market place) and on the old market (just off the High Street).

This year, the charity stalls, which included packed stalls of a wide variety of goods were Canaan Trust, Rotary RNLI, our Long Carnival team and several Scout groups. Whilst there were a few less stalls this year they all reported very good sales for their charities.

REVIEWS

“Once again a lovely evening was had on a brilliantly organised event. See you next year” Tracy

“Long Eaton Specsavers always do a charity stall each year. We enjoy doing it as there is a lovely atmosphere on the night. We always raise funds to carry it on through December. So it is a good start to our charity month in the community. Thank you for having us and we look forward to next year” Long Eaton Specsavers

“A good, although cold evening, at the Christmas lights switch-on. Thanks to all those involved with the organisation of the event and especially those who brought goods and donated to help the work of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in helping to save lives at sea and in flood areas” Mary

“I would like to thank you for giving Fibro Active the opportunity to hold a stall at the Christmas Lights. It is the first fundraiser we have done as a group and we had a fabulous turn out of our helpers. We all suffer from Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Many of us have further complications including high levels of anxiety. The members who attended would never have dreamt of attending an event like this, so to put them on a stall and deal with the public has been very challenging but positive and rewarding for them and they raised £123”  Julie

“Thank you for ALL the hard work and effort – truly appreciated. Please convey our appreciation to the Chamber for their dedication in organising and helping to make the Christmas Lights switch-on such a success.  It was a great evening… lots of happy smiling faces… which ultimately is what the evening is all about” Kevin

Charity Stalls – Reviews, feedback and comments (previous years)

"We really enjoy supporting this Christmas event. Every year we look forward to applying to gain a stall position to be part of the start of Christmas in Long Eaton. As part of the local community, we feel it is important to support and promote this event at our school so that all of our children get the chance to participate.  We were extremely lucky this year for our school to be selected to run a competition with the winner being the person to turn on the Christmas lights.  Emma Louise had a super time and has shared her experiences of being in the Town Hall and of turning of the lights. Well done to all concerned for organizing this event – it really is clear how much Long Eaton does to activate the community and provide lots of different family events for people to enjoy throughout the year. Looking forward to next year!"  Head teacher at Harrington School.

"We had a fabulous evening and raised £157.00 for Gem Connection Funds, we were thrilled. The event was organized so well we found our stall easily and what a brilliant size table. The atmosphere throughout the evening was happy and relaxed, we all had a lovely festive time. Thank you for letting us be part of a most enjoyable event. Hope the see you next year." Ruth of Gem Connection

"Well done for pulling off another great event, all the best and looking forward to seeing you next year". Dave Sawley Before and After School Club

“From our own perspective the evening went very well. We were able to make a reasonable sum for Long Eaton Sea Cadets and were also seen and hopefully may obtain some future cadets from the event, which has become a firm fixture in the Unit calendar. We were totally happy with the arrangements and would only ask for early notification of the date for next year.”

“We had a lovely evening and both the Baby Unit and RNLI did well. We never expect to make a fortune as there is so much competition, but we see the evening as a glittering of friends prior to Christmas and enjoying ourselves. Any profit we make is a bonus! It is also a flag waving exercise.”

“Thank you for all the effort you put into the organisation of the evening. It must be a nightmare as you are so dependent on other people bringing their bit together. As they say - It was alright on the night.”

"We had a great evening and made money for our Brownie Packs trips for next year. It was well organised and everyone was so helpful and friendly - even the rain kept off! Grateful thanks, Brenda"

"We were very happy with our takings on the night. We took £160.00!  This is the most we have ever taken in anything we have done regarding our charity, both myself and Julie were overwhelmed with this amount. Of course so were the charity we sent it too. All I can say now is THANK YOU VERY MUCH for all your help with the position of our Stall and all the other help you gave us to make our night such a success." Wendy for Dmitri Carers
